Compendium Medicine is a medical research comapany made up of Romée and Veerle who met during their medical school at the VU university in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Quickly, they began discussing the abundance of medical textbooks, and started wondering what could be done differently.
As medical students, they were faced with so much study material that it was often difficult to keep track of the bigger picture.
This inspired them to make a change for other medical students, and to help them regain this overview.
The Compendium book series
The duo have divided the most important medical knowledge in 35 specialties, all presented in the same way. Their method consists of using comprehensible illustrations for every medical condition, straightforward tables, many illustrations and useful mnemonics. It is visual, concise and to-the-point so you are able to memorize the study material more easily.
The Story of how Compendium Medicine Was Born
On their website https://compendiummedicine.com it reads “In 2015, we started our mission in the Netherlands and Belgium. The Compendium of Medicine in Dutch was born! We gathered a huge group of eager students and doctors, and started writing an encyclopedia using our own method. The book series sold out before launch, and soon we started making pocketbooks. The overview of medical knowledge became accessible for both studying and during practice.”
