No doubt there are good women in amapiano music, some of whom have been in the scene since the break out of the South African music genre.
We can not rule out the fact that there are a few who when they appear in a song, would expect the track to become a hit instantly.
Some of the top-rated female amapiano artists will be listed below, but please note that this is based on our own preferences, and judgment according to the amapiano ladies and their songs we know.
Knowing that the industry has been dominated by mostly males, it is therefore important to note the female amapiano artists who are gaining some popularity with their talents.
It will not be nice to just name an artist and tag her as the top or best amapiano female singer, rather we have chosen a list from all the female artists we know.

Boohle
Boohle may also be referred to as the Vosloorus-hailing Buhle Manyati, she is one of the ladies who has been responsible for writing some of the best songs amapiano has had to offer. Boohle has worked with Cassper Nyovest and Abidoza to release “Siyathandana” (which has just surpassed 7 million views on Youtube. She worked closely with Josiah De Disciple to produce “Mama”, which recently got a wonderful remix by an Afro-house master by the name Da Capo
Nicole Elocin
Another woman in the amapiano industry worth noting is Nicole Elocin, she was said to have been raised between the Eastern Cape and Kempton Park. Nicole Elocin began her music career in when she was about 11 years old in a church choir. It was revealed that she began to pursue her musical career by attending studio sessions with other local producers like Tammy T and Phlexx Roku, and by 20, she ventured into amapiano, and her first amapiano debut was on the Money Heist EP with the Tyler ICU. They had their stong-hold on her rendition of the Italian anti-fascist anthem “Bella Ciao” in a manner that only amapiano can carry a pop culture reference.
Lady Du
Lady Du is another South African female artist that has been engraving her name in the sands of time. She is an amapiano artist and a DJ also. Lady Du began to work on her music career when she was just 9 years old but struggled to gain popularity in the competitive music scene in Mzansi South Africa. After many years of struggles, she finally began to create a pathway for herself in 2020.
Kamo Mphela
Kamogelo Mphela is popularly known as Kamo Mhela, she was born on 29 November 1999. She is undoubtedly one of the finest female amapiano dancers in South Africa, also Kamo is an amapiano singer. She became an internet sensation when she shared a video of herself dancing on her social media account. Information has it that their passion for dancing began at an early age when she followed her father to work at YFM, and other events where she would perform on stage and dance, finally leading to her getting more exposure through her live performances. She later became famous by posting dance videos on her Instagram pages where she displayed her dancing talent. Before pursuing her dancing career, she had been an actress and was an extra on the popular TV show Isibaya. She probably found out that did not love acting and started performing as a gig dancer. At last, her dancing talents eventually got her the popularity she needed.
Bontle Smith
“Current of Blackness” is a vocal group of which the Tembisa-born Bontle Smith has been a member since her varsity. Through her work in the group, she met with DJ Giggs, a Superstar from the legendary house label called Soul Candi. Through the DJ, Bontle featured on Deep House Chronicles 4 which sparked a love for house music that would eventually tilt her career toward amapiano. Subsequently, after meeting with DJ Maphorisa he accepted to sign her to his own independent record label New Money Gang, they worked closely and featured Bontle Smith on Scorpion Kings’ “Lerato,” “Sandton” off The Return of the Scorpion Kings, and“Alalahi” on PianoHub. It is remarkably safe to assume that the pandemic of 2020 had no effect on her upward trajectory when she stamped her mark on MFR Soul’s “Amanikiniki” which peaked at 11 million views on Youtube in just about 5 months.
Pabi Cooper
Paballo Basetsana Mothapo is the biological name of the female amapiano artist who is better known by her stage name Pabi Cooper. Just like Kamo Mphela, she is a renowned South African dancer and amapiano singer best known for her hit song Isphithiphithi, which was assisted by the likes of Joocy, Reece Madlisa, and Busta 929. She came into the scene in November 2021 and stole our hearts. She would have been our most preferred amapiano lady, but let us take a look and the last name.
Nkosazana Daughter
Nkosazana Daughter is our choice for the top female amapiano artist in 2022. She solidified her stand after she led as the lead vocal on Wanitwa Mos, Master KG & Lowsheen’s Sofa Silahlane.
She was born on 6th October 2000, and she has her real name as Nkosazanah Nolwazi Kimberly. As of when creating this article in 2022, she is 22 years old so she will celebrate her 22nd birthday just last month. In September 2021, there was an amapiano song leak “Umama Akekho”, and the leak has the voice of an unknown female whom we later found out to be Nkosazana Daughter. Since the release of the song, the young female artist has been a powerful voice and notable force to reckon with. She has successfully done music with tons of big fishes in the South African amapiano industry and has also released a lot of hit tracks, even though she is yet new to the game. Among other male artists she has worked with include but is not limited to; DJ Maphorisa, Soa Mattrix, Mas Musiq, ThackzinDJ, Sir Trill & Tee Jay, Dlala Thukzin, Rascoe Kaos, Mpura, Moscow, Kabza De Small, Da Muziqal Chef, etc.
